June 2007 A return to one of my favorite cities, Istanbul, with new photos from a May 2005 trip where I spent a solid week in the city. There are now more than 4,600 photos in the searchable photo database.

March 2006 Many pages now include links to local weather information, maps and aerial photographs. These pages also display the local time. So, for example, if you want to know what the current time and weather is in Thimphu, Bhutan or Luxor, Egypt, the information is at your fingertips!
April 2005 Several "utility" pages have been added. One allows all users to adjust their monitors so that the photographs on this web site (and images on the web in general) will appear as intended. Also, for web developers pages have been added that explain HTML color codes and HTML character entity references and Unicode.
July 2004 Ukraine: The newest section of the web site, Europe, begins with photos from one of Europe's newest countries. Ukraine became an independent nation only in 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Although new as a country, Ukraine's heritage goes back centuries and there are many sights to attract the traveler, including the beautiful city of Kyiv (Kiev) and the spectacular landscapes of Crimea.
Jan 2004 Mexico! I finally made it to this friendly and fascinating country for a month in late 2003. The photos include scenes from Mexico City, the Copper Canyon, several colonial cities and the Day of the Dead festivities around Pátzcuaro. Also included are photos from several pre-Hispanic archaeological sites. The photo database has been updated and now contains more than 3,100 searchable photos.
Aug 2003 The web site has been redesigned to update the look by adding navigation tabs across the top of the page and a new frame in which to view the photographs. "Under the hood," everything has been converted to XML, which should make future revisions easier. Users of older browsers (such as Netscape 4.x) will still see the old pages.
July 2003 Several new pages have been added to the United States portion of the web site. Now available are photos from The Dakotas (including the Badlands), Upper Michigan and New England (featuring a very unusual cemetery in Barre, Vermont).
Mar 2003 The Asia portion of the web site has been revised to give it the same "look and feel" as the other parts of the web site, and to add many new photos from the original trip. In addition, all Asia photos are now searchable from the Photo Search page. The photo database now contains more than 2,600 searchable photos.
Mar 2003 The New Mexico page has been updated with new photos from a December 2002 trip to Bosque del Apache (a popular bird watching area known for its Sand Hill Cranes) and the Colorado page adds a few photos from a January 2003 trip through the beautiful San Juan mountains to Aspen, Colorado.

Sep 2002 The main page for the country of Namibia has been completed, as well as a separate page for Namibia's Skeleton Coast. Namibia, and especially the Skeleton Coast, were very different from other places I have visited in Africa. Have a look!
Aug 2002 The first pages based on a recent trip to Namibia and South Africa have been added. Check out the Himba & Herero People page for photographs of two of Namibia's indigenous tribes that have followed very different paths into the 21st Century. Also, there are photos from South Africa and from two days with the Great White Sharks.

Also, a site-wide Site Map has been added to make navigation easier.
May 2002 The California page has been updated. During a recent trip to California, I visited Yosemite National Park and the northern coast for the first time and revisited Death Valley. Yosemite exceeded all my expectations and it certainly deserves its reputation as one of the most stunning landscapes on earth. Death Valley overwhelms with its austere grandeur. California's northern coast is not a destination for a relaxing beach vacation, but its high cliffs, rocky coastline and towering redwoods are definitely worth the trip.
Apr 2002 The North America portion of the web site has been updated. More than 250 photographs have been added to pages for Canada and several U.S. states. The photos show some of the magnificent National Parks and other wilderness areas of North America, as well as a look at the historical and present-day indigenous cultures of the continent.

Aug 2001 Egypt and Jordan, in the Middle East section, are complete. Jordan was surprising for its dramatic landscapes, Roman ruins at Jerash and, of course, Petra, a city carved into solid rock! The Egypt section includes glimpses of modern life, but focuses on the antiquities, which have been arranged in chronological order so viewers can better sense the development of the ancient culture.
